Spring – Summer Presentation & Conference Schedule

To say that I’m looking forward to spending springtime in Paris would be a gross understatement. Apart from a few weeks in April set aside for conferences, including the Sociology New Directions Conference at the University of Edinburgh, the months of April and May belong to me and Paris (“pah-rhee”). Two months may seem like a generous amount of time to some, but I know all too well how quickly time flies, how easily it can get away from you. My plan is to spend what precious little time I have in the proverbial Ville Lumière writing papers, revising articles, attending workshops and seminars, presenting my work, visiting with colleagues, taking in the sites when my father and son arrive for a visit, and, so I would hope, making new friends.

June and July will be for writing, visiting with my daughter, and preparing for the #ASA2018 Annual Meeting in Philadelphia and the Roots & Branches Interpretive Sociology Conference (also in Philly). For ASA, I am co-organizing two Theory Section sessions with Isaac Reed (University of Virginia) and presenting my paper “Beauty and the Breast” at the Culture and Identity Regular Session. For the Roots & Branches Conference, I’ve co-organized a session with Piper Sledge (Bryn Mawr), “The Fine Lines of Interpreting Bodies and Identities.” Looks to be a very exciting panel! (Session and program information forthcoming in a separate blog post.)

Here is my tentative schedule of workshops, conferences, and presentations for the spring and summer. Feel free to contact me if you would like to receive information about one or more of the events listed below.
